They are many scriptures in the Bible that tells us that we are free in Christ. John 8:32 is one of them, it says “Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”. The moment you gave your life to Jesus you would have come in contact with the Truth, because He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14 vs 6). The question is what do you do with your liberty in Christ Jesus?
I am so glad you ask. Being set free in Christ means that we are no longer salves to sin. We are free from the bondage of sin and we are now equipped through his word to stand againts the wiles of the enemy, to be confident of our identity and to live our lives without fear. Yet many people are mislead in this regard. They have been using their liberty through Christ Jesus for their own agenda refusing to let go of the old man that we were once enslaved to.
In Romans 14 vs 21 the scriptures says “It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended or is made weak” glory be to God. Paul said it in 1st Corinthians 8 vs 9, that we should take heed lest by any means this liberty become a stumblingblock to them that are weak!! (please ready from vs 8)
My dear friends let us be careful that we do not use our liberty in Christ to cause anyone to stumble, our lifestyle should exemplfy that of Christ. Be careful of your presence on social media, its a big stage use it wisely.
I met a lady many years ago. She was shopping for shoes, I could not help but noticed a pair that looked very nice on her feet, so I voluntarily gave her my opinion, by telling her how nice that pair of shoes looked. She agreed with me, while she quietly choose another pair. Her reason was she did not want to become a stumblingblock to anyone at her chruch. You see, even though it really does not matter what kind of shoes you wear, she choose to use her liberty to protect the weaker ones in the faith. See you next time on today’s word. God bless you.
