Resting In Him

“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his” (Hebrews 4 vs 10)

We are living in a world that is moving fast. Fast food, fast lane and technology combined to give us speed. But that is not God’s plan for us. God’s plan includes physical and spiritual rest. God rested from his own work during creation (Genesis chapter 2) even though he did not have to. Why, because he is God and he is limitless, but he set that disposition for us because of it’s importance.

Notice people who lack quality sleep, they are usually more anxious and will eventually become sick. This is so because during sleep, our bodies repair itself (God’s perfect design) it’s like a full reset to keep us healthy and strong, God gave us sleep to restore us (Psalms 127). Likewise in the spirit, we must find time to pray and fellowship with God. That’s our spiritual refreshing, but if we are too busy doing everything else we will not find time for God and we will never experience his rest.

Start today by making time to read your Bible, pray and fellowship with him. Make it a habit, set that time aside to rest in him and wait for him. You will be happy you did.

My personal prayer time is 6 a.m to 6:30 a.m (mon – Fri). On the weekends I turn off my 6 a.m. alarm, but God always get the first portion of my day every day. Prayer and fellowship should be all day but we should have a special time that is set apart everyday for that personal, intimate moment with God.

Let us pray: Lord I repent of my sins today. Please forgive me for not spending quality time with you. Help me to slow down and make time to fellowship with you. Thank you Lord for refreshing me as I rest in you in Jesus name. Amen.
