“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”. (Matthew 5 vs 14-16).
Jesus came to this world as the light which he declared in John 8 vs 12. He said, “I am the light of the world, he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”. He even went to Zacchaeus’ house which caused a stir in the religious community. But what happened afterwards? Zacchaeus became a changed man because he encountered Jesus. Same with us today, we must be the one to show our unsaved friends the way to Christ, by our lifestyle and in our conversations. They must see Christ in us, and we should never try to fit into their world.
The world is searching for something to fill the void that exist, and even though it may not look that way but behind the glitter and the bright lights people are hurting. Yet many of us who call ourselves Christians are working overtime to look and act like the world. It has gotten to a point now where our physical appearance has become our main agenda.
Today I challenge you to be the light, to take your candlestick that’s hidden and place it where it belongs, in your home, at your school, on your jobs and everywhere you go. So that others may see the light and come to know Jesus Christ. Will you do that today?
Let us pray: Lord I repent of my sins today. Thank you for your word and for reminding me to be the light in a world filled with darkness. Help me Lord to develop a lifestyle that others may see you through me and come to worship you in Jesus name. Amen.
Until next time. God bless you.
