We Cannot Hide From God

“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” (Psalms 139 vs 7-10)

The Holy Spirit reminded me this morning of the story of Jonah, how he tried to run from the presence of God, and how God caused a whale to swallow him for preservation. When God calls you to do something that is your assignment and yours alone, no one else can do it for you and neither can they take your place. Your assignment is not just something for you to do, but it’s for a bigger plan that will not come together until you have done your part.

However, the journey to fulfilling that task is based on how we respond to the voice of God.  We can either take the longer route (Jonah’s way) or we can say like Saul (renamed Paul) “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” (Acts chapter 9 vs 6). Many others have answered “yes” like   Mary the mother of Jesus in Luke chapter 1 vs 38 “Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy word.” Or like young Samuel under the instructions of Eli answered, “Speak for thy servant heareth.” (1st Samuel 3 vs 10).

What did God call you to do? Is it to be a missionary, or to give out tracks at the train station or to become a pastor? Do you feel compelled to volunteer at the nearby shelter or even at the nursing home? Whatever it is, what will your answer be? I encourage you today, to stand up and be counted and say yes.

There is a song that I love (I do not own any rights to this song) please sing it with me… “I say yes Lord yes to your will and to your way, I say yes Lord yes, I will trust you and obey, when your spirit speaks to me, with my whole heart I’ll agree, and my answer will be yes Lord yes.”

Let us pray:  Lord I repent of my sins today.  Thank you for your word. Please show me how to fulfill my assignment so that others can be blessed. I say yes to your perfect will for me in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.

  1. Thank you, sister, for this devotion. Surely a reminder for me that when God has called me for a mission, I have to drop whatever I’m doing, and immediately attend to His call. Praying that I yield to God’s Spirit within me in order to overcome the temptation to procrastinate.
Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
    “Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
This message is very timely as tomorrow, we will be distributing gospel tracts. Trusting that God will guide and lead us during our Evangelism Outreach.

    Have a blessed night!
