Nothing to Something

“Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, thus says the Lord of hosts: I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people Israel.” (1st Chronicles 17 vs 7)

I am presently reading the book of 1st Chronicles and oh what fun I’m having! but as I read verse 7 of chapter 17, I could not help my thoughts from drifting off to the life of Joseph, how he was sold into slavery and imprisoned falsely but later became the prime minister of Egypt!

When God told his prophet Samuel to anoint one of Jesse’s son to be king over Israel, Jesse did not see David as a contender to become king! Instead, he thought of his older sons, maybe because of their outward appearances or maybe he thought David was too young.  But one by one as David’s brothers stood before Samuel, they were all rejected by God.

Then the Lord spoke to Samuel saying “…. look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature: because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth, for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”(1st Samuel 16).

God does not look for the most educated, best dressed or the best speaker to promote. He is looking for a shepherd boy like David, a slave like Joseph, a fisherman like Peter or a stranger like Ruth and he is looking out for you too. Today if you have been overlooked on your job for a promotion, or maybe you are not recognized much within your family because of your financial status. Get ready because God is about to establish you on that job, he’s about to elevate you to the next level you will become the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy chapter 28).

Let us pray:  Lord I repent of my sins today. Thank you that promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south according to your word in Psalms 75 but it only cometh from you.  I praise your name and honor you for promoting me for your glory In Jesus name. Amen.  Until next time. God bless you.
