Hate What God Hates

“These six things doth the Lord hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him.” Proverbs 6 vs 16

According to Proverbs chapter 6 vs 17-19, here are some of the things that God hates. A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a wicked heart, mischief makers, a false witness, and someone who sows discord (the cause of disagreement) among the brethren.

Let’s look at the first two on the list which are pride and lying: –

A proud look:  Habakkuk 2 vs 4 says “Look at the proud one, his soul is not upright, but the righteous will live by faith.”  The definition of proud according to google means having or showing a high or excessively high opinion of oneself or one’s importance or  feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one’s own achievements, qualities, or possessions or those of someone with whom one is closely associated. No one can be exalted above God; the scripture says in Matthew 23 vs 12 (spoken by Jesus himself) “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” That is what happened to lucifer, be began to see himself as one who was greater than God or like God.  (Isaiah 14 vs 12-15).

Lying tongue:  James 3 vs 6 says “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell.”  That’s what a lying tongue does, it causes mischief and mayhem. So many times, lies have been the cause of innocent people being sent to prison or it has caused the life of a loved one. Right throughout scriptures you will find stories of the consequences of lying. Remember what happened to Ananias and Sapphira? (Acts 5 vs 1-11). They thought that they were lying to Peter, but they were really lying to the Holy Ghost. (please read Acts 5)

Let us pray:  Lord I repent of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Please help me to humble myself before you always and to never partake in the things that you hate in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.
