“And said unto them, ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites, sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.” (1st Chronicles 15 vs 12).
Sanctification or consecration is God’s call for us to be holy. 1st Peter 1 vs 16 says “For it is written, be holy for I am holy.” In Joshua chapter 3 vs 5 God called for the children of Israel to be sanctified before they crossed Jordon. Joshua instructed them the day before saying “…. sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” When God is getting ready to perform wonders among us, he always calls for sanctification.
Moses had the same experience with the burning bush (which means purification) in Exodus chapter 3, he was consecrated before his assignment to Egypt. Same thing happened to Joshua, just before they marched around the walls of Jericho, the captain of the army of the Lord showed up and told him to take off his shoes because he was standing on holy ground (Joshua 5 vs 15). Before every major event in our spiritual journey God need us to be sanctified.
Today we no longer need the blood of animals to be sanctified before God, and we are certainly not sanctified by how dressed up we are! But we are sanctified by faith through the blood of Jesus Christ ((Hebrews 10 vs 10). Through him (Jesus Christ) we are made righteous (Romans 5 vs. 11).
Are you expecting God to move mightily in your life? Now is the time to prostrate before him, lay it all down before Jesus so he can sanctify you and present you faultless (Jude 1) before his Father.
Let us pray: Lord I repent of my sins today. Help me to present myself holy and acceptable to you according to your will and your word in Romans 12 vs 1. Thank you for sanctification through your son Jesus Christ Amen. Until next time. God bless you.
