He That Findeth A Wife

“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord.” Proverbs 18 vs 22.

It is the responsibility of the man to find himself a wife by praying and seeking. As in everything else in God’s plan, there is a right way to do things and we should always seek out which way is the right way (Ezra chapter 8 vs 21). Unfortunately, in this 21st century some women have taken It upon themselves to go search for a husband, when it’s really the man’s job to do that. The perfect example is in the book of Genesis when Abraham sent his servant to go seek out a wife for his son Isaac (Genesis 24). Further on in Genesis 28 Isaac did a similar thing as his father Abraham did. He called his son Jacob, blessed him and told him to go find a wife. These two stories had the same ending both Isaac and Jacob searched for a wife and they both found a good thing. They both obtained favor from God.

It is not easy being single for both men and women alike, but God is able to keep you while you wait. The story of Ruth is a great example of God’s timing. When she went to glean in the field, she did not have any clue how her future would have turned out, she was even hiding behind the other legitimate harvesters because she knew she was an outsider. (Ruth chapter 2). But she caught the eyes of Boaz nonetheless, and the rest is history. No one else can get what God has ordained for you. He will cause circumstances to change around you or in your life so that the right man will find you. Look what happened to Esther.  God caused Queen Vashti to reject the king and so paved way for Esther to become the wife and queen of a large kingdom. She not only became queen, but God used her mightily to save his people. Again, Boaz and King Ahasuerus, (just like Isaac and Jacob) have found a good thing and have obtained favor from God.

Despite the noise, men are still seeking to find a good woman. It’s in their nature to do. So. I encourage you women of God let us get back to basics by doing things God’s way. Stop looking to the world for the answer and stop trying to fit in. The Bible says when a man finds a wife, he obtains favor from God! That’s why it is so important to wait for your husband to find you. He will come when you least expect it and it will cost you nothing.  While you are waiting keep on gleaning, keep on working for the Lord because your Boaz will find you even if you are standing in the back of the line.

Let us pray:  Lord I repent of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Thank you that your way is perfect, and no good thing will you withhold from us who walk upright according to your word in Jesus name. Amen.  Until next time. God bless you.
