“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.” Psalms 91:11-12
I have not been able to write for the past couple days. I am out of town as we speak. My daughter and I drove from California to Nevada. It was my first time taking a trip like that and I really felt nervous. But, 555 miles later, we made it ok and accident free.
The trip reminds me of this song titled, sinner saved by grace by the Gaither Vocal Band. The second verse says, “how could I boast of anything I’ve ever seen or done? How could I dare to claim as mine the victories God has won? Where would I be had God not brought me gently to this place….. This song is quite fitting for me because if it had not been for the Lord on our side, I don’t know how we would have made it driving in 104 degrees with minimal stops!
But days before the trip during my devotion, I remember the Holy Spirt gave me the word convoy. Though I am familiar with the word, I wanted to get the exact meaning. So, I paused my prayer and ask God for a few minutes to look up the meaning. According to google.com, the word convoy means “A group of vehicles, typically motor vehicles, or ships, traveling together for mutual support and protection. Often, a convoy is organized with armed defensive support. It may also be used in a non-military sense, for example when driving through remote areas.”
Truly, a convoy of angels showed up for us, they protected us from the three-car collision that happened in the lane next to us, they kept me awake and alert (because I almost fall asleep while driving). And for some reason, there was always a truck driver in front of my car along the way, which helped to minimize the glare of the sun in my face and kept me company on the lonely road. I am so thankful that we did not have any car trouble whatsoever, we were kept in perfect peace all the way. That is nothing short of armed defensive support! Maybe for others driving that far is a regular occurrence but for me it was a milestone. We serve a God who does not slumber nor sleep, he is truly our shade and he will not allow the sun nor the moon to smite us, he promised to preserve our going out and our coming in at all times. (Psalms 121).
Let us pray: Lord please forgive me for my sins today. Thank you for your word. Thank you for your protection and for your continued goodness towards us, in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.
