A Set Time

“For thus saith the Lord, that after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.” Jeremiah 29:10.

Many of us have read my opening scripture many times, especially verse 11. But reading from verses 8 to 10 my eyes were opened to something else. That is, whenever you are desperate for a breakthrough you will act on anything and you will believe almost everything that you hear.

Lets look at Jeremiah 29:8-9, “For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the Lord.” God has a set time for everything. He likes to keep a schedule and he stick to his itinerary.  His people were held captive by the Babylonians (which he allowed) Jerimiah 29:7 and no matter how they cried out during captivity, their appointed time for deliverance would have come seventy years later. That was the time that he had planned to deliver his people out of bondage. (Jeremiah 29:10). Though we serve a God who can speak, and it is done in the twinkling of an eye, yet he chose to perform his work at a set time, in every area of our lives. He can do it in an instant or it may take longer. But whenever God speaks, it is still in his set time, and not ours.

But why does God choose to operate like this you may ask? Firstly, because he is a God of order and peace (1 Corinthians 14:33) and secondly, we benefit (though waiting can be frustrating) through the building up of our faith that worketh patience in us. The Bible talks about the widow who was in debt and her creditors were about to take her sons as slaves if they were not paid. She cried unto to the prophet Elisha and she later became a beneficiary of one of the greatest miracles ever told (2 Kings 4:1-7). The takeaway today from this story with the widow is, when it was time for her to see the miraculous, she was told by the prophet to shut the door behind her. That was her set time for her breakthrough, and it required some alone time with God.

Just like that widow, you may have to shut the door on a few people to receive your blessings. You may have to turn off your television, your phone or whatever it is that can distract you from experiencing the supernatural power of God. The widow did not have much, all she had was a pot of oil and that was all she needed. When God get ready and it is your time to be blessed, he will use whatever you have. He will use your praise, your obedience, and your faith. Your set time is coming, get ready for your breakthrough in the name of Jesus.

God has a set time to heal your marriage, he has a set time to heal your finances and he has a set time to heal your body. No matter what is happening around you, and no matter how long it may take, God will visit you and he will perform his good work towards you right on time.

In closing I have a song that I would like to share with you. it’s titled “Before the day is over” by Jabez. Please sing with me.

Before the Day is Over

God promised to take care of all his children
When they are going through some rough times in their lives
When it seems that all around has fallen
And the devil tells you cannot win
Only believe put your faith and your trust in the lord
He will deliver right on time

Before the day is over
Before the night is due
You will find the answer
God will come through for you
You been praying for deliverance
But his word gives assurance
Before the day is over God will come through for you ………..

Let us pray: Lord please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Lord thank you for reminding me that within your set time I will be delivered. I praise you for your wonderous works in Jesus name. Until next time. God bless you.
