No Shadow of Turning

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

This is a familiar topic and is considered part two of an article that I wrote some time ago. The purpose of this topic today is to encourage and remind us that we should not allow anything to derail us from standing on the word of God. For the past couple of weeks, I have been in conversations regarding the 21st century, and how I need to basically change my approach to certain things. In addition to that, with the rapid increase of technology, in some cases you are left with little or no choice but to catch up. So, my question is, why are you willing to change to please the world, when the God you serve changest not?

This is a very crucial time for us as Christians because we are tested, tempted, and tried daily and the pressure is for us to fit it. We are told that it is the 21st century and we must do things differently. If we are not careful the enemy will use even our very own children to take us off the path of godly parenting and render us useless and helpless. But despite what the masses have to say I have already made up my mind to stay on the path of righteousness by the grace of God. The word of God says that there is no shadow of turning or variableness with God (James 1:17). In other words, God will never change his word to accommodate us. Many churches have made that mistake, they have watered down the gospel so that, according to them, they can attract, please and retain the younger generation. Forgetting that only the unfiltered word of God and faith in God through his son Jesus Christ can save us and this generation from self-destruction. Nothing else can bring about wholesome change except for the word of God.

But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. I refuse to become a parent who has lost the will power to parent and set up boundaries in my own home. And I refuse to allow the noise of ungodly change to stop me form upholding godly principles. It is not ok to be in your home having a conversation with your family and it is being aired live, because unknowingly to you, your teenage child is on the phone with friends and the call is not muted. It is not ok for you to love your children so much, that you allow them to do what is right in their own eyes. No, we must stand up as godly parents and we must keep fighting against the spirit of rebellion.

We cannot become hypocrites towards our faith. If we have declared our faith to others in some things, then we must continue in all things. The world is changing every single day and we as Christians cannot and should not change our lifestyle to be accepted. The Bible says if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable (1 Corinthians 15:19). I implore you today, do not let circumstances, friends, or family cause you to ignore morals and godly principles. It is far better to stand up for Jesus now and be ridiculed by men, than to be denied by him later (Matt. 10:33). The ripper of the 21st century will not break me by the grace of God. I chose to stand.

Let us pray:  Lord please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Lord please help me to continue to fight for righteousness in my home. Help me to stand against immoral changes and sinful behavior in the name of Jesus. Until next time. God bless you.
