Like Pure Gold

“But he knoweth the way that I take, when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Job 23:10

During my devotion yesterday I was captivated by this verse of scripture in Job 23. It feels good to know that God is watching and ordering my steps. Job took comfort in that as well, because though he was having an extremely bad season, he knew that if he stayed the course, God would have been with him all the way. Though he was brought low, he was still confident that at the end he would have given birth to something far greater than what he possessed before. Job could have displayed that confidence because he knew God for himself and they had a relationship.

There are many ways we can be tired and tested. In Job’s case he watched everything that he possessed died almost at the same time. Then he helplessly watched his body deteriorated and he physically became a different man overnight. But one thing remained as he went through his season of despair and that was his commitment and loyalty to God. Though he did not understand why, he held on to what he was sure of, and that was the attributes of God. He knew that no matter what, nothing could stop God’s plan for him.

No one knows what their season will be like, until you are in that season. But while you are going through the storm, stay focus on who God is. Stay focus on his word so that you can finish strong. Only when you finish strong your golden character will shine. God is training or preparing you for service. Job’s story has touched millions in his time, and it is still inspiring millions more today. Likewise, when you have come forth as pure gold your testimony will help to build the character in others too. Your golden character is your faith in God. Faith that is tried and tested will stand against anything. The Bible says the trying of our faith is more precious than gold (1 Peter 1:7). It is only after your trials that you will experience golden results.

There are many giants to overcome as you travel on this journey and you will encounter may things. But know that God knows the way you take, even when you take shortcuts and got off course, he still knows, and he is still watching over you. Nothing is hidden from him (Heb.4:13) and he will always bring out the best in you no matter what.

Sing with me “Joy comes in the morning by Bill and Gloria Gaither.

If you’ve knelt beside the rubble of an aching broken heart
When the things you gave your life to fell apart
You’re not the first to be acquainted with sorrow, grief or pain
But the master promised sunshine after rain

Chours
Hold on my child joy comes in the morning
Weeping only last for the night
Hold on my child Joy comes in the morning
The darkest hour means dawn is just in sight

To invest your seeds of trust in God in mountains you can’t move
You have risked your life on things you cannot prove
But to give the things you cannot keep for what you cannot lose
Now, that’s the way to find…

Let us pray:  Lord please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Help me Lord to stay the course when I am tested, so that in the end I will come forth as your golden vessel for service unto you in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.
