God’s Appointed Cannot Be Rejected

“Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about. For his name shall be called Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.” 1 Chronicles 22:9.

Solomon was chosen by God to build his house and to be king over Israel before he was born. This was revealed to his father King David while he made preparation to build a house for the Lord to dwell in (that was David’s dream), but God forbid him to build his house (2 Samuel 7:12-13) And choose someone who was not yet conceived!

According to scripture David did not keep this a secret. 1 Chronicles 28:1 says, “And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.”  David told all his brethren that God had chosen Solomon to build his house and to be king over Israel after he (David) died. So, everyone knew about it including his other children and Adonijah was one of them. But years later after David was old and stricken in age his son Adonijah (son of Haggith) decided that he should be the one to take his father’s place as king over Israel (1 Kings 1:5). And he did all that he could have done to establish himself as king. He prepared chariots and horsemen and consulted with Abiathar the priest along with others, and he slew sheep and oxen to celebrate and to make himself known as king (1 Kings 1:5-9). Though he was fully aware, that Solomon his brother was already chosen years before.

But how many know that if God said it, then it must be established? Isaiah chapter 55: 10-11 says, “ For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth. It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Adonijah’s plans to rule over Israel were utterly vanquished because David caught a hold of what was taking place and he immediately ordered that Solomon be anointed king. (Please read 1 King 1: 10-48). All Adonijah achieved was to speed up the process for Solomon to be crowned, because you cannot go against the word of God and win. What a mighty God we serve? We can rest assured that he will always make good on his promises to us. Nothing can stop your story or your divine appointment. If God said it then he is more than able to establish it.

Let us pray: Lord please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Lord I lift my hands and my eyes towards you, and I thank you, that nothing or no one can deny me of what you have appointed me to accomplish. Thank you for your promises that they are true and perfect. I give you all the glory and the honor in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.

    1. SlimJim I am not originally from California but was living there for almost a year. my sons who are currently serving in the Navy were the reasons why I was there. I still have one son based there and the other was reassigned to another state. We continue to pray global prayers in Jesus name.
