“I go the way of all the earth, be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man. And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgements, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself. 1 Kings 2:2-3.
It is said that ants maintain their trail by reinforcement. Each ant after finding food they left an invisible chemical call “trail pheromone”, that chemical helps the other ants to find the food then they in return reinforced the trail on their way back so others from the nest can follow. I find this remarkably interesting because though they are so tiny, they have showed so much strength in the way they work together as a team. Their ability to leave a trail is not something they came up with on their own, but it was the way God created them. Your trail pheromone as a believer is your lifestyle. The way you conduct yourself speaks even louder than preaching the gospel.
Just recently I posted something on my Facebook page. I encouraged Christians to use their social media to be the light instead of trying to fit in. I was a little annoyed by the behavior of some who continue to use their liberty in Christ Jesus to cause others to stray or become confused. Our job is similar to the ants and is by far even more impactful when put into action, because we are fishers of men. It is a matter of life and death and certainly a matter of eternity. We can no longer sit on the side lines distracted by the world when unsaved souls are dying daily.
In 1 Kings 3:14 God said these words to Solomon, “And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.” What if David did not live a life that was pleasing to God? David left a spiritual trail for his children to follow, he did his part as a man of God, a king, and a father. He gave his children the baton, and in this case, he encouraged Solomon to stand up like a man, to be brave and urged him to keep the commandments and statutes of God ((1 Kings 2:3). In other words, David was telling his son to stay on the path of righteousness to guarantee his success as King and hope for the next generation.
I like to use the park to exercise because it has a trail. I find that the trail helps me to be more organized in my exercise routine outside of the gym. Some parks pending on their location and size you may see signs that say, “stay on the trail”. That way no one can get lost or wander off into dangerous areas. I am so happy that my mother, has left a spiritual trail for us. She has lived an exemplary life unto God and taught us by showing us how to pray. Thank you, mama, for leaving such a mark on your journey.
The question is, are you leaving your spiritual trail for others to follow? Are you feeling confident that you are leaving the right mark in this world that will point others to Christ? How do you want to be remembered; as a follower of Jesus in speech and conduct; or as a religious person who was a stumbling block to others? Jesus and the disciples have left their trail for us, now let us walk in it and reinforce it so others can follow. When the three wise men needed a light to show them the way to Christ, God sent a star. Without the guiding light of that star they would have been lost. Today God is still looking for men and women to shine like that star on that faithful night when Christ was born. Be God’s star and shine in this world of darkness.
Let us pray: Lord please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Please help me to be the light in this world of darkness, so that others will see your good works and come to worship you in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.
