It Is Crunch Time!!

“And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate, and they said one to another, why sit we here until we die? If we say, we will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians, if they save us alive, we shall live, and if they kill us, we shall but die.” 2 Kings7:3-4

The four leprous men were given a death sentence and no matter which way you look at it, they needed a miracle to survive. Not only did they need divine healing, but they were also four hungry men. This problem was enough to break the spirit of anyone, no matter how strong you claimed to be. But these four men made an important decision not to die hungry. In verse five of 2 Kings 7, the scripture said, “and they rose up in the twilight (before day breaks) to go unto the camp of the Syrians, and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.”

They could not afford to be seen by anyone, so they got up quite early while it was still dark and stumble through the darkness in order to make it to their destination.  They went against all odds, knowing very well the risk. In their eyes they were already facing death and that was the only risk in the enemy’s camp, so why not take a chance!  The Bible never told us if those men were ever healed of their leprosy, but one thing for certain they did not die of hunger and they were used mightily by God during a time of great famine in Israel.

What is your crunch time? Are you just sitting and waiting to die from whatever plagues you? Why not take a chance like those four men who decided to rise up and step out in faith?  Go ahead, make the best choice from what is before you and rise up and walk into your breakthrough.  It is already done in Jesus name.

Sing with me “still I rise” by Yolanda Adams.

Shattered, but I’m not broken
Wounded, but time will heal
Heavy the load, the cross I bear
Lonely the road I trod, I dare
Shaken, but here I stand
Weary, Still I press on
Long are the nights, the tears I cry
Dark are the days, no sun in the sky, yes

Yet still I rise
Never to give up
Never to give in against all odds
Yet still I rise
High above the clouds
At times I feel low
Yet still I rise………..

Let us pray: Lord please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Thank you Lord for the strength to rise up amidst all the obstacles. Thank you for going before me and clearing the path in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.

  2. Amen. Excellent encouragement here, Sheila. And I appreciate that you base many of your blogs on the Old Testament. More believers need to read the entire Bible, not just selected parts.

  3. Stepping out in faith is never more difficult than when we are in distress, but the one who does so will receive a rich reward beyond their expectations. God bless you for this beautifully written post, it certainly blessed me today.
