He Made Us Perfect

“I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marvelous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalms 139:14

Someone told me a true story about a young lady who is not happy with herself (sad to say there are millions more). When I heard the story, I felt sad but most of all I felt sorry for this young lady. Why? Because I got a chance to meet her and when I looked at her all I saw was God’s masterpiece. She is beautifully made, just the way God intended her and all of us to be. But for some strange reason she is not satisfied. She has already done numerous cosmetic adjustments and is still in the planning process to do even more.

There is also another young lady on my prayer list (we have never met) but I was asked to pray for her. She too was not happy with the way the master created her and decided to fix herself.  Almost a year later, she is bed ridden, unable to move around because of complications from a cosmetic surgery that should have never been done in the first place. Again, another one of God’s well-crafted design was destroyed by low self-esteem and the devil’s lies. When will this kind of stupidity stop? And surprisingly this type of superficial behavior is not limited to just the younger generation, but it has spread across to older persons on a vast scale as well.

While we should always take good care of ourselves (both male and female) it does not mean to butcher your body. Any form of voluntary cosmetic surgery, in my opinion is a sin. According to google the word cosmetic means superficial and superficial means appearing to be true or real only until examined more closely, so basically you are swapping out your originality for something fake. In all of this, I am fully cognizant of others who had no choice but to do some form of cosmetic surgery because of an accident or even illnesses. But if you are perfectly fine and voluntary did a surgery to adjust the way you look then it is wrong, and you are blatantly telling God that he made a mistake. Everything that God created is good and perfect (Read Genesis chapter 1). We were created in his image a replica of himself and that we should appreciate.

Someone need to start the conversation to ensure that this kind of behavior is minimized. Doctors are making millions in the cosmetic surgery industry and they themselves know that it is wrong. They are skillful in the art of adjusting the human body and nothing is wrong with that except that they should use it to save lives or to help a physically challenged person to live a better life. Though people are dying as a direct result of these surgeries, it is rarely talked about in the media because of the money being generated from it.

Today I am letting my voice be heard again! Please embrace your body the way God created you. Stop butchering yourself and stop paying doctors to inject you with chemicals to change your skin color, it will only bring harm to you later. Nothing you do on the outside can stop you from aging. As a matter of fact, all these surgeries can cause aging to be more difficult, painful, and sometimes ugly. You are beautiful just the way you are and in God’s eyes you are perfect!

If you are one of many who are in the planning process of getting cosmetic surgery done. I urge you to stop and reconsider. Think about it this way, what if you gave your child a gift and that child took the gift and destroyed it on purpose how would you feel about it? or what if you gave someone a gift and they returned the gift how would it make you feel? Love your body, though it is a temporary shell, it was designed especially for you and changing your outward self is destroying God’s handy work. Let us focus more on the inside, because when our heart is beautiful it shows. Beauty comes from within.

Pray with me: Lord please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Help me Lord to always remember that I was made in your image, fearfully and wonderfully in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.

  1. It’s good to have someone to encourage us about our value. Sometimes that’s all it takes, to be seen in a loving way. I pray that the Lord draws them near to him.
