How Did You Finish The Year?

“For the good that I would I do not, but the evil which I would not, that I do.” Romans 7:19

Last year seems so long ago or at least that is how I see it and how I really want it to be. I have taken that stand not because of ungratefulness but because I am disappointed with my own decisions during the last couple weeks of 2020. This has taught me a lesson, that sometimes even our best intentions can turn out to be a disappointment. Though this can be difficult to face, we must learn to move on from it and trust God to heal our hearts. The process of healing may not always happen quickly but eventually it will once we learn how to let go and let God. He knows what he is doing, and his timing is always perfect.

So, the question is, how did you end 2020? Are there any regrets or is there something that you wished you could take back? if that is the case, you are not alone because I am right there in the mix with you. The thing is we are not perfect people we are just mere men who sometimes get ahead of ourselves in believing we are more than what we are. Psalms chapter nine verse twenty says “put them in fear, O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but men.” Oh yes, that’s who we are just men who will make mistakes from time to time. Just men, who needs a savior, and that savior is Christ Jesus.

In Romans 7:20-21 Paul discovered something important. He realized that sin dwelleth in all of us and because sin dwelleth in us evil will always present itself even when we strive to do good. if you have finished the year with regrets and take backs do not beat up yourself too much. Talk to the Lord in prayer ask him to forgive you and allow his love to wash over your heart. If there are people that were hurt in the process, and maybe you are not able to reach out to them to say sorry, talk to the Lord about that too. He will find a way to bring healing to everyone involved. Remember he does not waste anything so he will use everything (the hurt and pain) for his glory.

So today while you are waiting to get over last year’s regrets and setbacks continue to give God thanks, for sparing your life to see another year. If ever a year we are thankful it is this one 2021! To God be all the glory for the things that he has done.

Let us pray: Lord, please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Thank you for making provision for mistakes and regrets. Thank you Lord from the bottom of my heart for another year of which I am so grateful. Please heal hearts that are broken and continue to restore us in Jesus name. Amen. Until next time. God bless you.
