“When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, no man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, neither do I condemn thee, go, and sin no more. “John 8:10-11
John chapter eight and the first couple verses tell a story about an adulterous woman who was caught in the very act of adultery. The penalty for this sin was death by stoning. But the thing is, when Jesus is present as I have said so many times before, anything can happen.
The scripture says the people brought the woman to Jesus to tempt him into answering them a certain way and they did that because they wanted to accuse him of breaking the law (Little did they know that Jesus came to fulfill the law). So, what did Jesus do? he simple stooped down and ignore them. But they kept on asking and his answer was so powerful that they too were convicted of their own sins and walked away (John 8:6-9) You see, Jesus represented God’s grace. Remember that He was not yet crucified on the cross in the physical realm, but the work was already done in the spirit and the scripture says in Romans 5 that the law entered that the offence might abound, but where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. Hallelujah!
Jesus was already doing the work of grace and that is why he told her that he did not condemn her and charged her to go and sin no more. So many of us have fallen into sin and have already condemned our own selves. But take heart today, Jesus will never condemn you, so do not condemn yourself. Only confess your sin to him, turn, go your way and sin no more.
Let us pray: Lord, please forgive me of my sins today. Thank you for your word. Lord here I am before you with my sin asking for your forgiveness and trusting in your word in Romans chapter 5, that your grace is more than my sin through Jesus Christ. Until next time. God bless you.
