The Year Of Reconciliation – Happy New Year!

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:17-18)

As per google reconciliation means the act of two people or groups to become friendly again after an argument or disagreement.

It is now 2023 as unbelievable as it may sound or feel it’s really here and for that I say to God be all the glory. He has spared my life and your life to see another year. As I began to write this post, the word reconciliation stood out in the scripture. Is it something that God is saying to all of us, or is it something he is saying just to me?  But whatever the case maybe, we are in a new season, a brand-new year, and there is nothing wrong with reconciling with each other.

Some of us have been hurt really badly by people. Notice I did not say family or friends because the fact of the matter is they are still people. Yes, we have been hurt, I am still trying my best to get over a few, but in this new season I have to try harder, and I hope you will too.

Let us literally and spiritually get rid (by God’s grace) of the old things. The old rivalry, the old jealousy, the old contentions, or anything that does not glorify God, they can be classified as old. Let us accept and take on the new things which are of God (2 Corinth 5), things like reconciliation, wisdom, understanding, forgiveness, and love. Let the light of God shine through us, let it fill up the space where the old habits once resided so others can see in this new season and beyond.  This is not a new year’s resolution, but it is a new year’s declaration by faith in Christ Jesus, that we can start over fresh since we have been given the opportunity to do so.  Reconciliation is not a gift; it is a ministry (2 Corinth 5) and we are all equipped and anointed to do it.

Let us pray:  Lord, please forgive me for my sin today. Thank you for your word. Help me Lord, to forget the old things and move on with the new things that you have given us in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen.
